Things to do rafting the Upper Neretva

The Upper Neretva runs through a limestone canyon above Konjic, and from May to September local operators run half-day rafting descents that cover roughly 20 km of Class II-III water, mild enough for families and first-timers with no prior experience needed. A half-day trip, transport from Konjic and equipment included, typically runs 40-60 KM per person; wetsuits and helmets are provided but bring a change of clothes for afterwards.

Water is highest and coldest in May and June; by late August the level drops noticeably, so it is worth asking an operator directly whether the river is still running that week rather than assuming a summer date works. Konjic itself, 60 km and about an hour from Sarajevo, is where every trip starts and ends, with agencies clustered near the old bridge.

This is calmer water than the technical Balkan rivers further afield, and it stays on the mild side of the scale even at higher flow.
