Things to do in Visegrad

Visegrad sits 120 km east of Sarajevo, a journey of roughly 2 hours by road, and works better as the gateway to eastern Bosnia than as a single stop. Buses leave from Istocno Sarajevo/Lukavica station, not the main Sarajevo bus terminal, since Visegrad lies inside Republika Srpska, where signage runs mostly in Cyrillic.

The town sits on the Drina river, with the Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic bridge and the Andricgrad complex as its two landmarks, each worth a dedicated visit in its own right. Most travellers base themselves here for a night or two and use it to reach Srebrenica, 140 km further on, or to arrange Tara river rafting out of Foca.
